    What is fractional hiring?

    A fractional hire is, as the name implies, someone who is hired to work for a fraction of the time a full-time employee would work. So, a part-time employee? Not really. Fractional employment doesn’t necessarily have a fixed schedule.

    Usually, fractional workers will make themselves available to a client during certain hours that work best for them and their client.

    Why fractional executive hiring makes sense for startups?

    Fractional recruiting and hiring enables startups to grow quickly without having to invest more money than they need to in staffing.

    Every startup needs experienced C-Level executives that will be able to guide them and advise them on their journeys. They need business leaders with “been there, done that” resumes.

    Getting a top executive on board full-time is going to take a large investment, one that your startup might not be able to afford at this time, despite the fact that a need for leadership exists.

    How do you vet talent?

    Our executives are vetted with a multi-step application process, which ensures they are experienced and can successfully support startups and SMBs.

    What is the minimum time I can hire someone for?

    You can hire a fractional executive for anywhere from 2 hours to 40 hours per week. We don’t require a minimum number of hours in the scope, you are flexible with setting up the time commitment and can ramp up or ramp down hours as needed.

    How much do you charge?

    Although we don't charge companies to get matched to and introduced to executives, for fractional engagements we charge companies a markup of 10% of what they pay their Shiny executive.

    When a company hires an executive full-time and brings them off the Shiny platform, we then charge a recruiting fee to the employer. The recruiting fee is equal to 15% of the executive’s first-year guaranteed cash compensation as a full-time employee at the company and is due 45 days after their start date as an employee.

    Is there an upfront fee?

    Unlike other platforms, we don’t ask you to pay a deposit or a search fee. You can sign up to the platform for free and request matching. You will only pay if you hire a fractional executive.

    What is the cost of hiring a fractional executive?

    The cost of hiring a fractional executive can range from $100 per hour to $600 depending on the type of fractional executive and experience level.

    Can I hire a full-time executive through you?

    Yes! We won't get in the way if you find an executive through us and decide you want to hire that person full-time. If you do hire one of our executives full-time, we will charge you a 15% recruiting fee.

    How Shiny is different from Upwork?

    Upwork is a marketplace for unvetted freelancers. Shiny does not allow just anyone onto its platform, we only have vetted C-Level executives to choose from, and we make it super easy for employers to find their ideal hires.
